یک تحقیق گسترده در کشورهای اروپائی نشان میدهد که ده درصد سرطانها در مردها و سه درصد سرطانها در زنها بخاطر مشروبات الکلی است. وقتی الکل در بدن تجزیه میشود، تبدیل به ماده سمی میشود که به ماده ژنتیکی دی-ان-ا صدمه میزند، و باعث ایجاد سرطان میشود
